Crisis In Niger Delta As Shell Shut Down

Niger Delta protesters have stormed the premises of a Shell crude oil flow station agitating for their corporate responsibility rights.

According to reports, the protesters demanded jobs and infrastructure development including an end to pollution of the area.

Although ‎soldiers and security guards did not disperse the crowd as they entered the Belema Flow Station in Rivers State.

The station feeds oil into Shell’s Bonny export terminal.

The Niger Delta has been beset by attacks from militants in recent times.

They accuse oil companies of not sufficiently reinvesting in the impoverished region.
